DESCRIPTION:UBERFest:  Arizona 2015\nWho wants to go to Arizona for some real (wet) canyoneering?! \nThe only fee for this trip is a $30/person non-refundable cost-sharing fee which includes camping.   Because canyoneering is inherently dangerous\, this event is ONLY open to people with professional canyoneering training or significant canyoneering experience!  Because this event is a social activity\, we will need some people willing to lead rookies through some awesome\, wet\, yet friendly\, canyons! \n \nIf you want to go to this event … get the training and become a competent participant and valuable team member! \nSome of the logistics:  I’ve reserved a large group campsite near Globe\, AZ.  It will hold 100 people (though fewer cars)!  This campsite has water\, fire rings\, covered pavilion/picnic area\, restrooms and showers! \nCARPOOL!  DO IT!  It’s 7 hours away from LA. Two people to a car would be reasonable when you consider camping gear\, coolers\, canyoneering gear and the fact that there will likely be car shuttles required for some of the canyons. \nYou’re also responsible for your own travel\, and your own meals … except!…  we will absolutely DO A POTLUCK  at 6:30pm on Saturday evening … picnic-type food!     i.e.: pasta salad\, burgers\, sausages\, potato salad\, cole slaw\, hot dogs\, buns\, chips\, salsa\, salads\, beer\, wine\, jello\, …your family favorite!  Please do not plan on bringing dessert unless you are baking it yourself .. Plan on bringing a main course\, salad or side dish to feed 4-6 people (not enough to feed an army .. that’s not necessary!)\, and the means with which to cook/heat it up/serve it … if required. Also\, you are responsible to provide your own plate\, cup\, spoon\, knife\, fork .. etc. \nThese are some of the canyons you should try to find beta for:  Barnhardt\, Big Kahuna\, Waterslides\, Parker\, The Jug of Salome Creek\, Punchbowl\, ZigZag\, Minnow\, Christopher Creek\, ETC!  MOST of these canyons will require a wetsuit as the water will be frigid\, even if the weather is not! (think melting snow runoff)  If you’re going to rent one\, get a 4/3 and wear a rain shell over the top to keep the wind from evaporative-cooling you.  (Leaders:  PLEASE DON’T POST YOUR PLANNED CANYONS ON HERE\, but keep me in the loop of your plans!  We will have sign-up sheets at the campsite.) \nDIRECTIONS TO THE CAMPSITE: The campsite is approximately 8.5 miles south of Theodore Roosevelt Dam.  From I-10\, east of Phoenix\, take State Hwy 87/Beeline Highway north for about 60 miles to its junction with State Hwy 188.  Turn right and follow State Hwy 188 for 33 miles to its junction with State Hwy 88.  CONTINUE ON HWY 188 for another 7.5 miles to Forest Road (FR) 84/Grapevine Group Site. Turn left onto FR84 for 2 miles to the site .. our Loop is called:  COOT. \nP.S.  I’m limiting the RSVP’s to +1 … if your +1 hasn’t taken a 3-day basic Technical Canyoneering Course or doesn’t have SIGNIFICANT CANYONEERING EXPERIENCE\, they need my permission or should not be attending. \n– Sign-Up Here! –
