DESCRIPTION:UBERFest:  Arizona 2015\nWho wants to go to Arizona for some real (wet) canyoneering?! \nThe only fee for this trip is a $30/person non-refundable cost-sharing fee which includes camping.   Because canyoneering is inherently dangerous\, this event is ONLY open to people with professional canyoneering training or significant canyoneering experience!  Because this event is a social activity\, we will need some people willing to lead rookies through some awesome\, wet\, yet friendly\, canyons! \n \nIf you want to go to this event … get the training and become a competent participant and valuable team member! \nSome of the logistics:  I’ve reserved a large group campsite near Globe\, AZ.  It will hold 100 people (though fewer cars)!  This campsite has water\, fire rings\, covered pavilion/picnic area\, restrooms and showers! \nCARPOOL!  DO IT!  It’s 7 hours away from LA. Two people to a car would be reasonable when you consider camping gear\, coolers\, canyoneering gear and the fact that there will likely be car shuttles required for some of the canyons. \nYou’re also responsible for your own travel\, and your own meals … except!…  we will absolutely DO A POTLUCK  at 6:30pm on Saturday evening … picnic-type food!     i.e.: pasta salad\, burgers\, sausages\, potato salad\, cole slaw\, hot dogs\, buns\, chips\, salsa\, salads\, beer\, wine\, jello\, …your family favorite!  Please do not plan on bringing dessert unless you are baking it yourself .. Plan on bringing a main course\, salad or side dish to feed 4-6 people (not enough to feed an army .. that’s not necessary!)\, and the means with which to cook/heat it up/serve it … if required. Also\, you are responsible to provide your own plate\, cup\, spoon\, knife\, fork .. etc. \nThese are some of the canyons you should try to find beta for:  Barnhardt\, Big Kahuna\, Waterslides\, Parker\, The Jug of Salome Creek\, Punchbowl\, ZigZag\, Minnow\, Christopher Creek\, ETC!  MOST of these canyons will require a wetsuit as the water will be frigid\, even if the weather is not! (think melting snow runoff)  If you’re going to rent one\, get a 4/3 and wear a rain shell over the top to keep the wind from evaporative-cooling you.  (Leaders:  PLEASE DON’T POST YOUR PLANNED CANYONS ON HERE\, but keep me in the loop of your plans!  We will have sign-up sheets at the campsite.) \nDIRECTIONS TO THE CAMPSITE: The campsite is approximately 8.5 miles south of Theodore Roosevelt Dam.  From I-10\, east of Phoenix\, take State Hwy 87/Beeline Highway north for about 60 miles to its junction with State Hwy 188.  Turn right and follow State Hwy 188 for 33 miles to its junction with State Hwy 88.  CONTINUE ON HWY 188 for another 7.5 miles to Forest Road (FR) 84/Grapevine Group Site. DESCRIPTION:Learn to Rappel Class\nInterested in learning to Rappel & Canyoneer?\nDid the movie 127 Hours intrigue you?!\nThis rappelling class is a very basic introduction to rappelling\, safety checks\, communication and fireman belaying (bottom belaying). This class is in no way a substitute for the full Technical Canyoneering Course. This class will\, however\, provide you with an introduction to rappelling\, safety checks\, communication and bottom belays that can make taking the full course more beneficial. \nWe will spend the whole day rappelling at Stoney Point in Chatsworth. \nSingle strand on 8.3mm and 9.2mm static canyoneering ropes! \nWe will also bring a couple of descenders for you to try:  Piranas and Figure 8’s. \nThat’s all we’re going to do … all day. So … \n\nIf you don’t know how to rappel .. come learn.\nIf you want to try out different descenders and ropes .. come experiment.\nIf you know how to rappel .. come practice.\n\nThis Learn to Rappel Class will last all day .. 7am-3:30pm so bring lunch &water!  You will be required to sign a release of liability and assumption of risk. You may participate all day or for a few hours … it’s YOUR day. \nGear for this class will be provided (however\, if you have a climbing harness\, any kind of helmet [climbing\, bicycling\, kayaking\, snow boarding\, etc]\, a pair of gloves [mechanics\, cycling\, weightlifting\, garden\, etc.] … please bring your own!)  And feel free to bring any gear you have questions about … we’re happy to show you how to use your own descender and to answer any/all gear questions. \nWe will be scrambling around a lot as we rappel\, scramble back up\, rappel\, scramble back up\, rappel\, scramble back up\, etc. ….so wear some comfortable shoes with good ‘grip’ .. trail\, running\, approach shoes all work well (don’t wear rock climbing shoes). Would you know what to do? Many backcountry emergencies are preventable\, and even when bad things happen\, sometimes the wrong care can make things worse. DESCRIPTION:Learn to Rappel Class\nInterested in learning to Rappel & Canyoneer?\nDid the movie 127 Hours intrigue you?!\nThis rappelling class is a very basic introduction to rappelling\, safety checks\, communication and fireman belaying (bottom belaying). This class is in no way a substitute for the full Technical Canyoneering Course. This class will\, however\, provide you with an introduction to rappelling\, safety checks\, communication and bottom belays that can make taking the full course more beneficial. \nWe will spend the whole day rappelling at Stoney Point in Chatsworth. \nSingle strand on 8.3mm and 9.2mm static canyoneering ropes! \nWe will also bring a couple of descenders for you to try:  Piranas and Figure 8’s. \nThat’s all we’re going to do … all day. So … \n\nIf you don’t know how to rappel .. come learn.\nIf you want to try out different descenders and ropes .. come experiment.\nIf you know how to rappel .. come practice.\n\nThis Learn to Rappel Class will last all day .. 7am-3:30pm so bring lunch &water!  You will be required to sign a release of liability and assumption of risk. SUMMARY:Learn to Rappel Class
DESCRIPTION:Learn to Rappel Class\nInterested in learning to Rappel & Canyoneer?\nDid the movie 127 Hours intrigue you?!\nThis class is a very basic introduction to rappelling\, safety checks\, communication and fireman belaying (bottom belaying). This class is in no way a substitute for the full Technical Canyoneering Course. This class will\, however\, provide you with an introduction to rappelling\, safety checks\, communication and bottom belays that can make taking the full course more beneficial. \nWe will spend the whole day rappelling at Stoney Point in Chatsworth. \nSingle strand on 8.3mm and 9.2mm static canyoneering ropes! \nWe will also bring a couple of descenders for you to try:  Piranas and Figure 8’s. \nThat’s all we’re going to do … all day. So … \n\nIf you don’t know how to rappel .. come learn.\nIf you want to try out different descenders and ropes .. come experiment.\nIf you know how to rappel .. come practice.\n\nThis class will last all day .. 7am-3:30pm so bring lunch &water!  You will be required to sign a release of liability and assumption of risk. You may participate all day or for a few hours … it’s YOUR day. \nGear for this class will be provided (however\, if you have a climbing harness\, any kind of helmet [climbing\, bicycling\, kayaking\, snow boarding\, etc]\, a pair of gloves [mechanics\, cycling\, weightlifting\, garden\, etc.] … please bring your own!)  And feel free to bring any gear you have questions about … we’re happy to show you how to use your own descender and to answer any/all gear questions. \nWe will be scrambling around a lot as we rappel\, scramble back up\, rappel\, scramble back up\, rappel\, scramble back up\, etc. ….so wear some comfortable shoes with good ‘grip’ .. trail\, running\, approach shoes all work well (don’t wear rock climbing shoes). Bring sunscreen\, sunglasses\, maybe a hat\, and clothes/layers appropriate for the forecast. \nThis class is open to everyone .. so invite your friends\, your teenage kids\, your spouse to join!  If you’d like to organize a private event for your students\, colleagues\, friends or for a family reunion\, just give us a shout!  This event also is a tremendous team-building activity! \nThe cost for this rappelling class is only $40 per person!!  The $40 is non-refundable but may be put toward a future rappelling class in the same calendar year if 30 days notice are given cancelling your participation on this date.  Read more company/course policies here. \nEvent Host/Organizer:  Klaus Gerhart         Instructors:  Jeremy Eng\, Francisco Camberos \n________________________ \nWhat people are saying about this class: \n“What a fabulous day!
