DESCRIPTION:UBERFest: Death Valley 2023\nDECEMBER DATES: Wednesday\, December 13 – Sunday\, December 17 \nThe only fee for this 4-day canyoneering extravaganza is a $35/person non-refundable cost-sharing fee\, which includes camping at the Furnace Creek Campground Group Site\, a pot luck\, and some cool swag. Or make arrangements for your own accommodations and the fee is only $15. However\, remember that this is a National Park\, so you will also need a National Parks Pass or pay the park entry fee. \nAs canyoneering is an inherently dangerous activity\, this event is only open to those with professional canyoneering training or significant canyoneering experience.  And\, as this is a social event\, anyone competent/qualified to lead a canyon should plan on helping to lead rookies through some awesome canyons! If you want to go to this event\, get the training and become a competent participant and valuable team member! There are several Uber Adventures Technical Canyoneering Courses (ACE-L1) offered between now and this event. \n   \nTHE CANYONS: There are a number of different mountain ranges in Death Valley with a variety of canyons to fit all skill levels. AND – permits are not required to descend canyons here. \nBolting is not allowed in the park\, so this is the perfect place to hone your natural anchor building skills. Bring your A-game! \nWEATHER: The average high/low for this time of year is 65°/38°\, making it the perfect time to explore these canyons! \n \nSome of the logistics:\nTHE GROUP CAMPSITE:  I’ve reserved group site #2 at Furnace Creek Campground for a maximum of 40 people. The group campground is for tent camping only with limited vehicle parking. The campground accommodations include water\, flush toilets\, picnic tables\, and fire pits/grills. We can accommodate up to 40 people\, but only 10 cars at the site! \nThe Group Campsite will also lend itself for all group activities including gathering for ridesharing\, meals\, the potluck\, games and especially\, CAMARADERIE!  Because we will always want to get a super early start for our canyons and morning shuttles\, our evenings at the group campsite will end early so people can get their sleep. \nThe campground also has RV spaces and individual tent sites available. If you want to go that route\, you may be able to reserve one on your own. Individual reservations at Furnace Creek are now open. Stovepipe Wells (first come\, first serve) and Slabby Acres (free) are other camping options. Or you can splurge and stay at more luxurious accommodations nearby. Contact me for more details. If this is your choice\, you’ll be responsible for making (and paying for) your own arrangements. \nCARPOOL! DO IT!  Two-three people to a car would be reasonable when you consider camping gear\, coolers\, canyoneering gear and shuttling to the canyons. \nYou are responsible for your own travel and your own meals – except – we should absolutely do a POTLUCK on Saturday evening at 7:00pm.  Bring something delicious to share. This might also be the time for us to have movie night and an awesome campfire (weather permitting)\, so bring some firewood!

DESCRIPTION:Canyon Rescue Course (ACE-L4) Moab\, UT – ‘Intensive’\nAll skills presented in only 2 days!    \nTrain Hard.  Plan Well.  Be Safe.\n                                                    …but accidents still happen.\nThis Canyon Rescue Course by Uber Adventures teaches the skills necessary to perform immediate\, in-canyon self-rescues\, partner rescues\, and how to assist with group emergencies … all with your groups’ normal rack-and-pack (the minimal gear you should carry on your harnesses and in your packs.) \nBoost your confidence and fill your mental toolbox with skills to handle technical emergencies. \nThis course not only teaches you the skills and methods necessary to execute a variety of rescue procedures\, but it provides the impetus for critical thinking through an emergency. \nHow would you help a canyoneer stuck on a rope?  How would you help an unconscious canyoneer stuck on a rope?  How quickly could you figure out how to convert a static block to a lowering system?  Could you haul a rappeller back to the top of a drop by yourself?  Have you ever been in a canyon\, assessing a fictional problem and felt helpless?  Are your responsibilities in a canyoneering event greater because you’re the leader/organizer?  Would you like to be a more valuable team member?  This course is vital for not only canyoneering leaders\, but also for conscientious recreational canyoneers who value their own safety and the safety of their party. \nWith the technical skills presented in this course\, you could prevent the need for calling in an expensive Search And Rescue team\, avoid putting rescuers at risk\, avoid spending the night in a canyon\, and continue a canyon descent with a non-critically injured teammate. \nPrerequisite:  Participants should have some advanced formal canyoneering-specific training.  This course builds on the skills taught in the Uber Adventures’ Technical Canyoneering Course (ACE-L1)\, the Advanced Canyoneering Course (ACE-L2) AND the Canyon Essentials Course (ACE-L3).  While we are not requiring the completion of each of those courses as a prerequisite\, those who have had advanced formal canyoneering training will find it easier to ‘keep-up’ with this curriculum.  If you’re not sure if this is the course for you\, please give us a call and we can discuss your skills and training. \nThe topics and skills covered will include: \n\nKnots\, Rope Grabs & Progress Capture Methods\nAnchors\, Rigging & Friction Dynamics for Rescue\nMechanical Advantage and Haul Systems\nConverting Static Rigging to Haul or Lower\nAssisted Rappel & Tandem Rappel Techniques\nHero Rescue\, Balancier Lift\nRappelling on a Tensioned Rope\nGuide Ropes\, Tag Lines\, Belays\nCut-and-Lower Procedures\nSpecial Ascending Techniques for Rescue\nPick-Off Procedures Scenario\nConsiderations for musculoskeletal injuries\n\n \nInstructor: Jasmine King \nRead company/course policies here.

DESCRIPTION:UBERFest: Moab 2023 – BOOKED FULL!\nWho wants to go to Moab for some autumn canyoneering?!\n \nSCHEDULE \n\nWednesday\n\nArrival begins 12:00 noon\nSet up camp\, orientation & socializing\nGreet friends\, old & new\, and plan canyon trips\nTake a hike or descend a short canyon\n\n\nThursday\n\nCanyons\nEvening workshops\, meet vendors\, games & prizes\n\n\nFriday\n\nCanyons\nEvening free\n\n\nSaturday\n\nCanyons\nEvening feast (provided) – Just BYOB\n\n\nSunday \n\nCanyons\nDepart camp by 12:00 noon\n\n\n\nCOST: The fee for this 4-day canyoneering extravaganza is $65/person and includes 4 nights of camping\, workshops\, Saturday evening meal (bring your own beverages)\, and hot bottomless coffee provided every morning by 6am. Canyon leaders are NOT guides and are not paid. They are just helping with logistics. Who goes on the trip is solely up to them. You MUST be an active participant in the canyon\, carry group gear/ropes\, help with rigging\, bagging rope\, and be completely self-sufficient. \n \nLEADERS: Everyone should be prepared to LEAD at least ONE canyon descent during this event. Do not attend with the intention of everyone else doing all the work! There are several Uber Adventures Technical Canyoneering Courses (ACE-L1) offered throughout the Southwest between now and this event (including one immediately preceding this event in Moab).  If you want to go to this event\, get the training and become a competent participant and valuable team member! \nThere are many canyons to choose from both inside and outside the park. If you descend more than one canyon in a day\, you will need a permit for each canyon.\nEveryone should thoroughly review the information at the NPS website here https://www.nps.gov/arch/planyourvisit/canyoneer.htm\nA timed-entry reservation and ticket are also now required to enter the park between 7am – 4pm. You may enter before 7am or after 4pm without a ticket. Everyone should review that information here. https://www.nps.gov/arch/planyourvisit/timed-entry-pilot.htm\nYou also need a park pass to enter the park (either a 7-day pass or an annual pass).\n\nCAMPING: We’ve reserved 2 group campsites near Moab\, UT. Together they will hold 65 people\, but only 20 cars! These 2 campsites each have one fire ring\, a few picnic tables under a covered pavilion and enough room for our tents. There are pit-toilets but no running water. Pickup campers are permitted\, but RVs are not and there are no hook ups. There are a few local options for filling our water jugs and a couple nearby options for pay showers\, along with gear shops\, supermarkets\, and restaurants. We are also only a few miles from the entrance to Arches National Park\, and cell service! If the group campsite fills up\, you may make arrangements for alternative accommodations and still participate in the event. However\, the $60 fee is required whether you camp with us or not. \nCARPOOL!  You are responsible for your own travel; however\, parking at the campsite is limited to 20 vehicles. We recommend that you carpool. Two or three people to a car would be reasonable when you consider camping gear\, coolers\, canyoneering gear and shuttling to the canyons.
