DESCRIPTION:UBERFest: Las Vegas 2017\nWho wants to go to Nevada for some Fall canyoneering?!\nUber Adventures is proud to be offering an UBERFest in a new location… Lake Mead National Recreation Area.  We have been working closely with the park and are very excited to add this location and event to our community offerings.  This is another reason why we are America’s Premier Canyoneering Instruction\, Events and Community! \nIn our commitment to keeping our community trained and well-practiced\, we are requiring everyone who wishes to attend this UBERFest to sign-up for the KNOTS\, BENDS and HITCHES workshop that will take place near our campsites\, at the Boulder Beach Picnic Area (space permitting). \nIf you wish to attend this event\, please add yourself to the waitlist and once you’ve committed to the KNOTS\, BENDS and HITCHES workshop\, we will bump your RSVP into ‘attending’. \nhttps://www.meetup.com/canyoneering/events/243723136/ \nLake Mead NRA is near many canyoneering opportunities with a variety of exciting and unique features.  If the canyons which drop into the Colorado River from both the Arizona and Nevada side (some with hot springs; some with pack rafting; some with required ascending) aren’t hot-on-your-list or if you’ve already done them\, we are near enough Red Rock National Conservation Area that if you get an early start you could consider adding those to your options.  If you’re in need of the beta book for all the Las Vegas Canyons\, you can find it at the UberAdventures.net store. \nAs with all UBERFests\, there will be people from all over the country attending and looking to descend canyons (or do hikes and hot springs) with new friends and acquaintances.  In order to facilitate some camaraderie\, each evening\, we will help you find some awesome peeps to make your next days’ plans with.  But\, remember\, everybody should be prepared to organize a canyon or two … without everyone pitching in for the logistics and planning\, there may not be enough activities to include everyone!  So\, participate wholly! \nAnd\, as with all UBERFests\, you must have the relevant training(or significant canyoneering experience) to attend this event.  There are SEVERAL relevant courses being offered across America (like the ones from UBER Adventures)\, but courses from Arizona Mountaineering School\, Into the Wild\, Zion Rock and some ACA Courses like ‘Ground School’\, Introduction to Canyoneering and ART of canyoneering are NOT recognized/sufficient.  If you have a question about your training or ability to participate\, please contact me. \nSince this UBERFest is being held over the Thanksgiving Holiday\, Thursday evening everyone is invited to my nearby home for a potluck thanksgiving dinner!  You’ll need to bring a hot side dish\, salad\, beverage or desert (I’ll create a sign-up sheet) .. and walk it over to my home\, along with your camp chair\, for a potluck dinner on my porch. \nSave the date; sign-up on the waitlist; RSVP to the Knots Bends & Hitches workshop\, and prepare to spend an awesome holiday with like-minded peeps! \nKlaus \nP.S.  UBERAdventures & Klaus Gerhart have secured $650 worth of campsites for this event\, and while we can accommodate 40+ people\, our limiting factor will be the number of vehicles that fit at the group sites (20 total).  There is some overflow parking a couple hundred feet away\, but don’t hesitate to work out a carpool! \n  \n  \nThere are several Uber Adventures 3-Day Technical Canyoneering Courses (ACE-L1) offered between now and this event.  If you want to go to this event\, get the training and become a competent participant and valuable team member! \nCAMPING: I’ve reserved a couple of group campsites within the Lake Mead National Recreation Area (details will be provided to participants as the event approaches).  This campsite has water\, fire rings\, picnic tables\, and restrooms! \nCARPOOL!  DO IT!  It’s 4+ hours away from Los Angeles.  Two-three people to a car would be reasonable when you consider camping gear\, coolers\, canyoneering gear and shuttling to the canyons… and the fact that we are EXTREMELY restricted on parking at the campground. \n
